Big Idea Group (BIG)

Our first site this week is for those inventors who have great ideas but who don’t like the rest of the inventing process.

There are two main sections of BIG that will be of interest to you,

Agent

BIG acts as an agent for inventors. Most of the inventions they represent are in the early stages of development.

They never charge inventors any money, they make money by sharing royalties/advances that your invention may achieve.

However they represent very few products, they have a very tough selective process and only take on the ideas they feel have the best chance of success.

Idea Hunts And Contests

Big’s, Idea Hunts and Contests act as the go between a company looking for a solution to a problem and inventors who can help them find a solution.

Anybody can submit an idea and you don’t even have to submit a working model, it could simply be an idea for how to solve the problem.

How it works,

• A company approaches BIG with a problem their customers are having, a problem they want to provide a solution to.
• BIG then compiles a very detailed overview of the problem and the companies guidelines and requirements for the solution. They then post this on their website for inventors to see.
• You then read the guidelines and submit your ideas/prototypes for a solution.
• Your idea is then reviewed and if selected could go on to be licensed.

NewDaVincis

This website is an online shop which focuses on selling products created by inventors. It’s a great site to look at what other people have invented and I found it to be quite motivating when looking at some of their products.

It could also be another potential place to sell your invention.

Google Patent Search

The final website I’m sure many of you already know about, it’s Google’s patent search. It’s the first place any inventor should go to when researching if their idea is can be patented. What’s best it’s a free patent search.
