Problem

While trying to search a suspect in the field a police officer is putting themselves in danger as while attempting to search a suspect the suspect is normally unrestrained which often can lead to a suspect attempting to run away or assault the police officer in an attempt to get free.

Solution

The Balla Base is physically mounted to the trunk of a police car. The police officer can then handcuff the suspect to the Balla Base therefore leaving the officer hands free to search the suspect and stop any potential of them running away.

It also features compartments to store and preserve evidence, with an adjustable light and a clip for paperwork.

Product - Balla Base

The invention was inspired by and dedicated to Ronald Balla’s brother Chad Balla a police officer who sadly past away from cancer before the product was completed.

Ronald said

“Chad told me one night he was looking at a suspect’s wallet. Chad was holding a flashlight in  one hand and a clipboard under his other arm when the man turned, knocked the wallet out of his hands and pushed Chad down. He caught him after a lengthy chase.

“The next morning he found out the man had two wallets,” Balla said. “One was of a dead man in a ditch two blocks away.

The base will be able to move fro m car to car and in total the product will cost $1200-$2000

The Market

Whilst at the moment I can only see this being of use to the police, I can see there being high demand from law enforcement around the world.

The USA alone has over 400,000 police cars.

There is currently nothing like this on the market.

Currently - Patent Pending

The product is currently undergoing field trials but has already had interest from USA and law enforcement in Russia.

The product is expected to launch autumn 2008.

LoveInventions say

The inventor Ronald Balla seems to know what he’s doing.

He’s offered his prototype to police department in his local region for free so he can gain feedback from the trials.

He’s gained media coverage from local news channels and press.

He’s gone to a law enforcement expo which is held every year in the hope of exposing his product to more of the right kind of people.

And he’s also taken the most vital step an inventor can take, he’s created a product that has real value and solves a real problem.

What’s more his created a problem that will be of benefit worldwide.
